Homemade Butter

On a bank holiday Monday, one of Blu’s Christmas gifts from his parents held us around the kitchen. It is, in case if you have not guessed from the video below, a hand butter churner. Churning is a process of turning liquid cream or whole milk at speed until it forms into clumps of butter. Et voila, as we sit by the fire we spread the deliciously homemade butter on warm toast, the business is settled, we vowed not to purchase butter from shops again.

After butter clumps had been rinsed under icy water, first shape it by hands then by butter paddles. Now ready to be served with warm crusted bread and a sprinkle of crashed sea salt.
